The world we see is a projection. A universal, light show designed by an eternal director…and we are the tiny photons shining with the times we live in, completely incapable of changing the course of our lives, unable to choose a fate beyond what is predetermined by the Greatest Of Directors.

At least…that’s what some believe.

To the some, this theory of life sees us as particles of energy, collected randomly over time into a bundle of matter called flesh, which managed to develop themselves into sentient animals with complex thought processes (dopamine feedback loops) which have enabled us to survive and develop into human beings. As blobs of random energy coalesced into sentient beings, we live a short timeframe of existence, followed by a sudden decline into old age and a dreary death when the cold darkness of nothingness reclaims us in the universal energy system from whence we all came.

Dust to dust. Ashes to ashes. Particle to particle.

How utterly existential and – as most things existential are – depressing.

Fun, right?

The truth is, we are so much more than particles used to illumine the world with a split second of life and forgotten memories. Some would call us creators. Some would argue that we have the ability to “create” whatever life we want. That we have an innate ability to manifest our deepest desires, and mold the world around us with the power of our thoughts without the help of a higher intelligence.

Others would argue that the Greatest Of Directors is in charge of creation, and that we are at the back of the line when it comes to manifesting anything. To answer this illusive quandary, let me ask one simple question that has frustrated thinkers for eons immemorable: What came first: the chicken or the egg?

Let me put it another way: What conceived of the idea of “the chicken” or “the egg?” And once conceived, what had the resources to create such things from NOTHING, regardless of which came first?

Without DNA to manipulate. Nor stem cells. Not even elements or atoms, let alone complex protein structures.

What could create a chicken or an egg from NOTHING?

You?

Me?

This is where modern manifestation theory hits the rough road. Many “manifest destiny” types believe that we have the ability to “create” anything. But if you take the example above, I dare anyone to create an egg or a chicken out of thin air. Out of nothing.

My experience is that it can’t be done.

“So what are you saying, Steve? I thought you were going to tell me how to manifest whatever I want. It’s in the title of this blog, can’t you read?”

Well, in order to be able to manifest, we have to first have an understanding of our role in the manifestation process, and to be clear: WE ARE NOT CREATORS.

“But, Jim Carrie said I was at my high school graduation ceremony. Its even on Youtube.”

If that’s the case, ask Jim to create, not produce, create a chicken or an egg from nothing. Then I’ll be impressed.

Listen to me very carefully: we are CO-CREATORS. We work with the Greatest Of Directors to manifest what is possible for our lives.

Please read that again.

We are CO-creators. We can work with creation, but we are not capable of creation.

“But, what about child birth? Surely that is creation?”

Once again, I dare anyone to create a child from NOTHING. Without a sperm, nor an egg. I challenge it can’t be done. This idea of procreation is often confused with creation, but it illustrates my point perfectly.

Procreate: from Latin procreat- ‘generated, brought forth’, from the verb procreare, from pro- ‘forth’ + creare ‘create’

Oxford Dictionary

Brought forth, meaning bringing from something or somewhere. Through the process of procreation, we bring forth in order to create. But bring forth from where? This is where the mystery of manifesting begins. In order to procreate, we have to join forces with another human being. Together, we can CO-create together. “Co” means together.

The same goes for manifesting our lives. Since we have to “bring forth” from an unknown place in order to create, we have to align ourselves with this place to effectively manifest what is possible for our lives.

This helps us the define the starting point of manifesting:

Manifesting Rule #1: Understand your place in the manifestation process. We are a vehicle for creation, not the source.
